Stories & Tributes

My husband, Steve, battled pancreatic cancer for almost two years, bravely and confidently, until the cancer took control. When he arrived at Quiet Oaks one Thursday night in June, he had taken a turn for the worse. From the time we arrived at Quiet Oaks, until his passing 5 days later, he was treated with care and respect. My children and I spent the days and nights there, to be with him, and we too were treated very well. Thank you so much for the amazing care he received during his last days, and for all the kindness shown to our family by the entire staff at Quiet Oaks.

Volunteer Opportunities

Become Part of the Quiet Oaks Family

Quiet Oaks Hospice House & Respite Care is a volunteer driven non-profit organization.  Over 140 people volunteer to create a homelike atmosphere for residents and their families in the remaining days of their lives together.  Quiet Oaks offers individuals an opportunity to share their talents with others through a very unique volunteer experience.  We are always seeking new volunteers in the following areas:

House Volunteers: These volunteers provide hospitality for residents and guests by preparing meals, baking, cleaning, and answering the phone. Occasionally, House Volunteers are also asked to help with mailings and other administrative tasks. We ask that House Volunteers work one four-hour shift at least twice per month. Six House Volunteers are needed per day.

Resident Care Volunteers: Volunteers in this area have an opportunity to work directly with the nursing staff, residents and resident families.  They assist the nursing staff with resident care and spend time visiting with or reading to the residents.

Special Projects Volunteers: A range of other opportunities exist for people to utilize their unique talents. Special Projects Volunteers may assist with office work, help with the spring and fall cleanup days, provide massage therapy, play piano or other musical instruments, or style hair. We invite you to contact Volunteer Coordinator, Liz Knese, at 320.255.5433 ext. 2 to find out how your skills may serve the residents and guests at Quiet Oaks.

Outdoor Volunteers: We are always seeking volunteers to garden, keep up the lawn, prune trees, and remove snow. Volunteers may choose to do any of these tasks that most interest them.
